My LOC MISTAKES

Hey there

So if you are following me on Instagram, I have been talking about the many mistakes that were made in my previous Loc journey that caused me to cut off my Locs.

💥I WAS ADVICED BY MY LOCTICIAN NOT TO WASH MY STARTER LOCS FOR 2 MONTHS

Gross!!It is devastating when you put so much faith in your loctician or stylist only to find out that they gave you a misinformed advice.

Fact: Starter Locs should be washed after two or three weeks after Installation.Actually water helps in the loc'ing process.

💥I RETOUCHED MY LOCS WITH WAX AND NEVER WENT UNDER A DRIER.
This is the worst mistake you will ever make on your locs. You may not notice as it happens but one day you will look at your locs in the mirror and hate what you will see.Build up will be screaming on your locs and it will be pretty hard to wash it off

Fact: Never use raw wax on your locs and fail to dry it under a drier or a blow dry.It will stick in your locs as it turns white if not melted out.

💥USING THREAD TO RE ATTACH MY LOCS
After cutting off my locs,my loctician used a thread to attach the locs back but I could always struggle with a thread or two that was sticking out.I hated it,I had to cut them off again.

Fact: At loctitude,we don't use thread to re attach locs.We only use a crotchet to reattach them.

I hope you can relate to some of these mistakes and treat your locs better.

Yours Loc head,Mesh

WHY YOU NEED A LOCTICIAN

Many loc heads talk about the freedom to do their own locs and skip the loctician's chair all the same. I use to retwist my own hair and I can vividly remember how my arms got tired from the twisting and turning before I started to semifreeform(where you just let your locs grow with less manipulation ,you just wash and go and maybe retwist once in 6-9 months). But,not all locs can be semifreeformed.Everything has its pros and cons,I semifreeform because I am a Loctician and I can closely monitor the process and because I have thick locs, and also because I don't mind flat locs(happens when you don't retwist). If you have medium or thin locs, semifreeforming is not for you! Here are some reasons to go to a loctician  √ Locticians are style Doctors Your loctician is a natural guide to styles you haven't had before. Want a style for different occassions? A lotician will do that for you. √ A good loctician will provide low-risk services A loctician will know what wil

How to remove build up in locs

Because of their nature, locs are more susceptible to build up than loose natural hair. Avoiding heavy products is an important step to avoiding build up.If you just started your locs and you notice some build up ,mix vinegar in a spray bottle, then splitz on hair.Massage into locs then rinse.Repeat during every wash till your locs are build up free. Mature locs will require deep treatment because the hair is loc'ed up tight. The Baking soda and vinegar deep cleansing treatment will get out most of the gunk trapped in the locs. *Take a 1/4 cup of baking soda *2 tsp of lemon juice *1 tsp of sea salt *3/4 cup of ACV(Apple cidar vinegar) Add the ingredients to a bowl, bucket or sink of warm water.Stir well until well mixed.Soak the locs, rub and agitate to remove the oils, dirt and gunk.Make sure all the locs are thoroughly soaked. Then rinse out well with water until clean. This should remove most build up from your locs, repeat after a while till your locs are free from build up.

TO USE WAX OR NOT?

Many of our clients have asked about wax and which is the best method to maintain locs. First of all wax/moulding gel is the most common method of locs maintenance. For the simple reason that it keeps the locs neat and has a better hold. But just like everything else, it has its pros and cons. Using wax in excessive amounts will damage your locs, they will start having build up (the whitish stuff) and it’s really hard to get it out. This is because the moulding gel/wax is very heavy and and it must be dried completely or your locs will appear untidy and you may even start hating them to the point of wanting to cut them off. This moulding gel is good when starting locs for it gives a better hold. If you want to use wax for your retouch, please visit your loctitian, he or she will know the right amount of wax to use in retouching your locs and the right way to dry them. If the wax is not dried properly, it will stick to your locs and form build up. A professional loctician will use a
