Yes Honey!!

Having noted that people are slowly looking for natural and inexpensive ways to maintain their locs, wether semi freeform or organic locs,I have tried out a few things on my locs like honey.Honey mixed with lemon will hold your locs in place and give them a beautiful natural shine. Step.1 Wash your locs to remove dirt and build up.Gently towel dry and place the towel on your shoulder to protect your clothing as you work. Step 2. Mix three parts of honey to one part of lemon in a small cup.You don't need much to begin with. Step 3. Begin twisting each loc with the honey mixture.Make sure the air is damp when you do this.If the locs seem dry, spray some water or moisture splash. This keeps the hair from getting too sticky. Step5. Sit under a drier for about 30 minutes or use a blow dry. Please note...hair textures are different.Softer hair tends to work well with this method more than coarse hair. Happy loc'ing!!

WHY YOU NEED A LOCTICIAN

Many loc heads talk about the freedom to do their own locs and skip the loctician's chair all the same. I use to retwist my own hair and I can vividly remember how my arms got tired from the twisting and turning before I started to semifreeform(where you just let your locs grow with less manipulation ,you just wash and go and maybe retwist once in 6-9 months). But,not all locs can be semifreeformed.Everything has its pros and cons,I semifreeform because I am a Loctician and I can closely monitor the process and because I have thick locs, and also because I don't mind flat locs(happens when you don't retwist). If you have medium or thin locs, semifreeforming is not for you! Here are some reasons to go to a loctician  √ Locticians are style Doctors Your loctician is a natural guide to styles you haven't had before. Want a style for different occassions? A lotician will do that for you. √ A good loctician will provide low-risk services A loctician will know what wil

4 WAYS TO MOISTURIZE DRY LOCS

Your locs must be moisturized to be healthy..you cannot have healthy locs if you have dry locs.Take it like spaghetti, when you try to bend them when dry, they break...But when soaked in water, they remain intact and strong. Oil does not moisturize your hair, contrary to a common belief. There is no such thing as "moisturizing oil".To add moisture to your locs, you need water or a water based moisturizer. 1. Use a water based moisturizer and an oil to retain the moisture. You can make your own moisture splash in a spray bottle by mixing water with your favourite oil like coconut or castor oil and use that as a moisturizer. The oil helps to retain the moisture. You can also purchase a moisture splash from any cosmetics shop that has natural hair products I love the stylin dredz moisture splash. It is specially formulated with softeners and proteins that help to restore moisture to dry locs.It also has a very sweet smell. 2 .Drink a lot of wate r Your body needs water for your

How to remove build up in locs

Because of their nature, locs are more susceptible to build up than loose natural hair. Avoiding heavy products is an important step to avoiding build up.If you just started your locs and you notice some build up ,mix vinegar in a spray bottle, then splitz on hair.Massage into locs then rinse.Repeat during every wash till your locs are build up free. Mature locs will require deep treatment because the hair is loc'ed up tight. The Baking soda and vinegar deep cleansing treatment will get out most of the gunk trapped in the locs. *Take a 1/4 cup of baking soda *2 tsp of lemon juice *1 tsp of sea salt *3/4 cup of ACV(Apple cidar vinegar) Add the ingredients to a bowl, bucket or sink of warm water.Stir well until well mixed.Soak the locs, rub and agitate to remove the oils, dirt and gunk.Make sure all the locs are thoroughly soaked. Then rinse out well with water until clean. This should remove most build up from your locs, repeat after a while till your locs are free from build up.

FREEFORM AND SEMIFREEFORM LOCS

When I say that my locs are SEMIFREEFORM locs, its simply means that I go for 4 to 6 months without retwist.Semifreeformers take longer to retwist, they just wash their locs and let leave them to grow. Reasons being semifreeforming adds volume to locs especially if you have thin hair.It also makes locs grow thicker. There are people who don't like their scalp or partings to show, and definitely semifreeforming will work for them.People have different preferences when it comes to starting and maintaining locs.No matter the method, all locs are beautiful. FREEFORM LOCS are locs that are started by doing nothing to your hair. When you stop combing your hair,it mats together on its own to form locs, that is freeforming. The locs form in different sizes and thickness and to me that is the most true nature of dreadlocs. Locs have evolved and now peple manipulate them according to their lifestyle and preference. Some prefer thin and others thick, some prefer perfect partings some par

COMBINING LOCS

Hey heeey. Hope this post finds you well.So I met this friend of mine and her locs were really thin and she was planning on cutting them. I had to convince her that she can actually combine two locs to make a thicker one.I have also met many clients who want thicker locs.. So how do you combine locs? There are several methods and each depends with your preference. * You can use a thread and needle to sew two locs together. They will mesh up and join with time. * You can also join two locs at the roots and cut one loc. You can attach that loc to the primary loc. This will enhance the length of your locs(that is if you wanted them longer). If not, after joining the two at the root, you can twist the two strands together. They will mesh up with time and become one loc. * You can also twist two loc strands together from the roots and they will lock up together with time. You can use a crotchet needle to secure the ends NB. You don't have to cut your locs to grow thicker ones. You

DIY(Do It Yourself) Locs

Hello there. The other day someone asked me "Who started your locs?" and I plainly answered "I did". Ofcourse disbelief was written all over her face. There is a misconception that you have to visit a loctician to start your dreads.I am not hating on locticians, me being one.But sometimes they do what they think works best and not what the client desires. Let me give you an example. I visited a loctician when I started my  first set of locs and I specifically told him that I wanted thick locs. He said that he will start locs that will be easier to style, so I told him I didn't care about styling. Well, he went ahead and started locs that I ddn't like. So I decided, enough with locticians, and I started my second set of locs by myself. I can wash my locs as often I like , treat them as often as I like, do a scalp massage as often as I like and at the end of the day the outcome depends on me. Its amazing. You might be wondering, how the heck do I start loc

My LOC MISTAKES

Hey there So if you are following me on Instagram, I have been talking about the many mistakes that were made in my previous Loc journey that caused me to cut off my Locs. 💥I WAS ADVICED BY MY LOCTICIAN NOT TO WASH MY STARTER LOCS FOR 2 MONTHS Gross!!It is devastating when you put so much faith in your loctician or stylist only to find out that they gave you a misinformed advice. Fact: Starter Locs should be washed after two or three weeks after Installation.Actually water helps in the loc'ing process. 💥I RETOUCHED MY LOCS WITH WAX AND NEVER WENT UNDER A DRIER. This is the worst mistake you will ever make on your locs. You may not notice as it happens but one day you will look at your locs in the mirror and hate what you will see.Build up will be screaming on your locs and it will be pretty hard to wash it off Fact: Never use raw wax on your locs and fail to dry it under a drier or a blow dry.It will stick in your locs as it turns white if not melted out. 💥 USING THREAD

TO USE WAX OR NOT?

Many of our clients have asked about wax and which is the best method to maintain locs. First of all wax/moulding gel is the most common method of locs maintenance. For the simple reason that it keeps the locs neat and has a better hold. But just like everything else, it has its pros and cons. Using wax in excessive amounts will damage your locs, they will start having build up (the whitish stuff) and it’s really hard to get it out. This is because the moulding gel/wax is very heavy and and it must be dried completely or your locs will appear untidy and you may even start hating them to the point of wanting to cut them off. This moulding gel is good when starting locs for it gives a better hold. If you want to use wax for your retouch, please visit your loctitian, he or she will know the right amount of wax to use in retouching your locs and the right way to dry them. If the wax is not dried properly, it will stick to your locs and form build up. A professional loctician will use a

Difference between dreadlocs,sisterlocs and brotherlocs

DREADLOCS Dreadlocs are simply hair that has been matted together and can be formed using various methods. SISTERLOCS They are smaller than dreadlocs and their installation takes longer than that of dreadlocs.Probably twice or thrice longer.   BROTHERLOCS Brotherlocs are similar to sisterlocs but are a bit larger although smaller than traditional locs. Can you unlock dreadlocs, sisterlocs and brotherlocs? Some people claim its possible but in real sense its difficult and leads to too much breakage. Most people just chop off their locs when they don't want them anymore. So what kind of locs do you have? Stay blessed!

The 5 TO KNOWS before starting dreadlocs

Hey peeps. I get a lot of questions about locs ..If they are permanent or not or if they can be combed out, and I could sense the fear and uncertainty people have about having locs. They don't know what to expect or wether they will start missing their straight hair or not . 1. The big chop To really get it right, you have to cut off your chemically processed(permed) hair. Its a difficult and awkward decision but worth it if you want to get healthier locs. However if you have natural hair you can start locs with that length of hair, no need of cutting it off, but be ready for a bit of shrinkage as your hair begins to lock. 2. Your hair won't loc immediately Locing hair is not the same as braiding or weaving. The results are not instant. It will take from 3 to 6 months depending on the texture of your hair. However, there is a method called instant locing that will take about 5 hours and voila!! you get fully matured locs. 3. Negative energy There are people who are just en
